Casey Bailey

Casey Bailey is a renegade farmer growing chickpeas on his family’s fifth-generation farm under the big sky in Montana. We met Casey almost ten years ago now, and you could say he kinda inspired this whole thing.

The Farm

Casey turned his family’s 5,000-acre land into an organic soil-rich haven. He manages the choreography of almost twenty crops which work together to maintain healthy soil—the most important building block of any healthy ecosystem. Almost all of our chickpeas come from Casey’s farm in Montana. 

Day One

We started working with Casey on day one, purchasing fifty pounds of chickpeas at a time, back when we were still blending our hummus in a little tabletop mixer. He believed someday it would be worth it, and we’re proud it finally is. This year, he’ll dedicate over 500 acres of production just to Little Sesame.

The Future

Since we’re building direct markets for chickpeas, we help make the case that big commodity wheat farmers should take a leap and start farming regenerative rotations of crops. People like us pay more per pound, and provide secure markets for their farmers. Regenerative farming is the future, and relationships like ours prove it’s possible.

Trust us, organic matters. Most conventional chickpeas have tons of fertilizers and pesticides on them—which means that a lot of conventional hummus ends up with that stuff in it, too. Nope, no thank you, not ours. We know our farmers; we talk with them all the time. And it means we get the best quality chickpeas to make the best possible hummus.

Not frozen, not pasteurized, and definitely not from concentrate. Our team squeezes real, fresh lemons every single day. Why? Mostly because we can’t quite shake our fine dining roots, but also because it really does taste better.

We make the hummus the same way we did since day one.

Even as we’ve grown we’ve never changed how we spin our hummus. It’s made in small batches, because it allows us to get that super-smooth texture and natural creaminess you just can't find in other hummus on the shelves. We promise that will never change!
